About Me

  1. What is this blog about?

This is a curated blog on fashion, beauty and fitness. It’s a personal, intellectual and inspirational reference to help others find their own style.

  1. How does this blog differ from other fashion blogs?

I attempt to help you find your style. I detail fashion and beauty items in their historical and cultural contexts. Unlike other fashion and beauty blogs, I’m interested in researching the historical and cultural context of things, instead of reporting on trends. It’s a throwback to my studies in art history.

The other section, fitness, is an important part of my life and has literally saved it, but I do understand the struggle of reaching or maintaining fitness. There is so much contradictory information out there on nutrition and fitness that it’s difficult to know what to believe. This is why I use the expertise of my personal trainer, Kristy Belanger, to be able to write the fitness posts with a clear conscience.

  1. Who are you?

I‘m an Economist by day and lifestyle blogger by night with a dollop of sass in-between.

  1. Why did you start this blog?

This blog started out solely as a beauty blog. I was tired of trying out products and forgetting what I thought of them, how they worked, which colours worked on me, etc. After a few years, I expanded into fashion and fitness, ‘cause, why not?

  1. What inspires you?

Everything: art, old movies, fashion shows, celebs, quotes, history. Much of my inspiration from my other blog, WearMyStyle.

  1. What’s your personal style?

It varies from day-to-day, but I am generally attracted to:

  • Colour
  • Rocker (motorcycle boots, leather jackets)
  • The 1970s (jumpsuits, trouser jeans, large, floppy hats)
  • Classic (pencil skirts, Mary Jane pumps, tweed)
  • Hip hop (big, bold jewellery, sneakers, athletic wear)
  1. Why are your posts so opinionated?

Cause I’m opinionated. I can’t help it. Blame my parents. Think of me as your girlfriend who you go shopping with, the one who will give you a strong opinion about everything without being nasty about it. If that deodorant doesn’t work properly, wouldn’t you want to know before buying it?
